Activities
All planning, activities and routines are linked to the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework.
I have many montessori play and learning activities to suit all ages and stages of development including: construction (i.e. magnets, lego etc) small world toys, role play, puzzles, sensory activities, lots and lots of arts and craft materials, dolls, musical instruments, junk modelling, play-dough etc.
To encourage child-initiated play, all activities are easily accessible by the children and are, therefore, regularly risk assessed. The children are encouraged to choose for themselves and put toys/books away when finished with or if they want to play with something else. .

Garden
Outside my small garden is fully enclosed, with close access (5 minute walk) to Elthorne Park. This gives us endless opportunities to climb trees, play with other children and the huge space available allows for fun play in a traffic-free area.
In the garden, I have plenty of plants and fruit trees (apple, plum, cherry, yellow plum) as well as a covered area where children can still play in case of a wet day.

Example of a typical day
8-9 AM:
Children start to arrive from 8am. Once all the children have arrived, I let them know what the plan is for for the day and if they want to add in any further ideas they are welcome to.
For babies and toddlers, I observe them during their free play time and provide activities which they show interest in.
Breakfast: milk, cereal (no/low sugar), porridge, wholemeal toast with butter,
9-10 AM:
Child - initiated play (Free play) or sleep for younger children
Snacks - fresh fruit and vegetables as well as introducing new fruits
12:00 PM: Lunch*
- Freshly cooked home meals (I encourage healthy eating). For more information, please don't hesitate to call me .
12:45 PM: Sleep/Quiet - time activities*
Each child will have their own bag which includes matsheet and a blanket and a comforter if parents wish to provide.

4 PM onward: Teatime and snacks (for those who have tea at home)
5 PM: We start to wind down and tidy up for the day
5:30 PM: Parents start to arrive. Parents are welcome to come in at the end of the day. We try to use this time to have a general chat and leave some time for anything confidential that needs to be discussed
*Times are always adjustable and not set in stone so that they can fit children's needs and requests.
